Isono Shrine ■Isono Shrine

Isono Shrine is a historically significant shrine enshrining Amaterasuomikami, or the Sun Goddess and Takekunikoriwakenomikoto (another Japanese deity). The shrine's structures are Shinmei zukuri, made of Japanese cypress woods, and are surrounded by plush forests. A vast camphor tree, considered to be a deity and standing in front of the shrine's court yard, is estimated to be 500 years old.

Ishizuchi Shrine (Head Shrine) ■Ishizuchi Shrine (Head Shrine)

Ishizuchi Shrine embraces the holy mountain Ishizuchi as its Shintai, the place where the spirit of deity is believed to dwell. It is actually constituted of four shrines, Chojyo Shrine at the summit of the mountain, Jojusha Shrine and Tsuchigoya Yohaiden at the breast of the mountain and this main shrine alongside National route 11. Collectively they are named Ishizuchi Shrine. The other holy place named Maegamiji (No.64) sitting just east to this shrine also used to be a part of Ishizuchi Shrine.

Hokokuji Temple ■Hokokuji Temple

The renowned rock garden symbolizing this temple is considered to be a product of the Muromachi era, and is believed to be one of the oldest in the Shikoku region. It is designated by the nation as a renowned site. In addition, a wooden sculpture of Butsu Zenshi in a sitting position is a superior figure carving produced during the early part of the Muromachi era. It was once displayed in the American Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and is designated by the nation as an important cultural property.
