Ishizuchi Shrine Jojusha Shrine Ishizuchi Shrine Jojusha Shrine

A moderate walk from the ropeway station leads you to Ishizuka Shrine Jojusha Shrine. From there, you can see Tengudake Peak's northern face.

Yohai-sho Yohai-sho

Those who are unable to climb up to the peak shrine will pray here. The next resting place is Hachosaka Lodge.(The distance between Jojusha Shrine and Hachosaka Lodge is approximately 1,000 meters.)
The distance from Hachosaka Lodge to the next Zenshagamori Lodge is approximately 800 meters. The path up the mountain between the two is a steep zigzag that leads through a virgin forest. It may prove to be the most difficult part of the path climbing up.

Yoakashi Pass Yoakashi Pass

In the old days when climbing Mt. Ishizuchi was not so easy, it is said that people used to stay here until dawn to continue the climb.

Chain Chain

Ishizuchi is renowned for the chains running down its slopes. There is a trail ascending the mountain with 74 meters of chain called "Trial chain", followed by:
First chain  33m
Second chain  65m
Third chain  68m
There is also a detouring path that any one lacking the confidence can follow, so you need not worry.

The distance from Jojusha Shrine to the summit (Tengudake Peak) is 3.6 km and it takes between 2 and half hours and 3 hours to climb up and between 2 and 2 and half hours to climb down.
About 1,200 kinds of plant species inhabit Mt. Ishizuchi, many of which can only be found on this mountain. This area is renowned for its rare high altitude plants and beautiful flowers. Enjoy hiking slowly over the hills so you may have ample time to take in the beauty of the area.
